From President Greg:

What a GREAT meeting last Month for Show and Sip. We had 17 attendees, including a wonderful surprise when my AF'76 classmate and wife, Roger and Sandy Yauchzy, drove up from Richmond to attend.  Roger and I had a couple of assignments together, including an "extended vacation" in the desert flying F-16s during Desert Storm - we’re forever “brothers from another mother”!  Our 3 presenting members drink some fine bourbon as their go-to's, and by .07 of a point, we have a new leader in our cumulative blind tasting scores: Col E.H. Taylor Small Batch, so graciously shared by Walker, edging out our past leader Woodford Reserve Double Oak.

And here are the tasting notes:

1792 Bourbon: (Bardstown, Ky / 93.7 Proof / $32.99)

Presented by Paige

  • Considered a "High-Rye"

  • Spice with sweet caramel and vanilla

  • Brash and bold, yet smooth and balanced

HF Score: 3.15

I.W. Harper - Cabernet Cask Reserve: (Louisville /90 Proof / $49 )

Presented by Kain

  • Nose - Distinct candy apple, with dry cornhusk easing into light creme brulee

  • Palate - Smooth and smoky taste of rich oak and vanilla. A hint of dark fruit on the backbeat.

  • Finish - Clean and smooth

HF Score: 3.6

E.H.Taylor Small Batch Bottled In Bond: (Frankfort, Ky 100 Proof / $50 MRSP, $130 avg)

Presented by Walker

  • Nose - fruit forward, cherry/vanilla, hint of oak, toasted nuts

  • Palate - Vanilla, cherry, spice, pepper

  • Finish - Lingering sweet fruit, spice fades into cinnamon and caramel

HF Score: 3.87
